Teams named for Fremantle v West Coast game

There have been 44 players selected to represent the Fremantle Dockers and West Coast Eagles in a WA All Stars game to be played on April 9. In similar fashion to the Western Bulldogs versus Melbourne game in Victoria, the Dockers and Eagles teams have been selected from the WA Female Talent Academy.

The match will be played as a curtain raiser to the AFL’s Round Three Western Derby at Domain Stadium in Perth. Coastal Titans Renee Forth has been named captain of the Dockers, while Swan Districts Kara Donnellan has been named captain of the Eagles.

Forth, who was also recently appointed as the 2016 WA State Female Football Ambassador, is thrilled with the captaincy but still has her eyes firmly on the bigger picture of women’s football.

“I’ve always loved watching footy but coming from the country I wasn’t really sure if there was a pathway available for me,” she told

“If someone is passionate about the sport, all you want is a means of getting to the highest level you can.

“That’s another reason why being an ambassador is so important because it helps the community know that footy is available for females.”
