#AFLWomensGame - Melbourne v Brisbane Lions

Round Two of the 2016 AFL Women’s Exhibition series kicks off this Sunday with Melbourne taking on the Brisbane Lions at the MCG.

The Melbourne squad, drawing on players from the AFL Victoria Women’s Academy plus Amy Chittick and Angela Foley from the Northern Territory, will take on a Brisbane Lions squad boasting the top talent from Queensland.

Melbourne has introduced some new faces, including Penny Cula-Reid, Jess Hosking, Ainslie Kemp and cricketer Jess Cameron. While Cecilia McIntosh makes her return to the MCG, where she injured her knee in last year’s series.

Previewing the match on the ‘This AFL Life’ podcast, Darebin Falcons star and veteran ruck, Aasta O’Connor, believes the game will come down to which team’s ruck duo can gain the ascendancy.

“It’s going to be a really interesting battle through the ruck, and whichever ruck can give their mids first-use, I think that will go a long way to putting it on the scoreboard.” O’Connor said.
