The opening match of the inaugural NAB AFL Women’s season has been relocated to Ikon Park.
The match between Collingwood and Carlton on February 3 was originally fixtured at Collingwood’s home ground at Olympic Park Oval. Due to the expected attendance, the AFL has relocated the game.

In a media statement, AFL General Manager Game and Market Development Simon Lethlean, (who attended last Saturday’s practice match between Carlton and Melbourne), said the high level of interest and high attendances at recent practice matches prompted the decision.
“All footy fans who want to see the opening AFLW match will now have the opportunity to do so at Ikon Park,” Lethlean said.
“The move ensures no one will miss out as Ikon Park offers greater capacity.
“It is fantastic the new AFLW competition has so much momentum and interest. The AFLW opening round is an historic occasion and I’m looking forward to seeing the players in action from February 3.”
The Carlton v Collingwood match start time has also been changed to 7.45pm AEDT.
The match will be broadcast live on the Seven Network, FOX FOOTY, Croc Media, SEN, Triple M Melbourne and ABC Radio. The match will also be available via the afl.com.au live app.
