Toomey burst onto the scene two years ago, finishing second at the 2015 Crossfit Games as a Rookie and she followed up that performance with another runner-up crown in 2016. In that same year she also qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics as a weightlifter.

The Crossfit Games are a gruelling four-day event pitting the world's fittest athletes against each other across thirteen 'workouts'. In a further test of mettle, the series of workouts are unknown to the athletes until right before the competition.
Toomey won the opening 'Run Swim Run' workout and the 'Muscle-Up Clean Ladder', and she also claimed second place in the '1RM Snatch' and the 'Heavy 17.5'.
